We’ve offered a number of CPD workshops & courses for professionals & students working in the industry. Take a look at what we’ve done so far…

Inclusive Dance Practice – by David Wildridge

The Course:
The day will focus on Inclusive Dance Practice with each section addressing different aspects of inclusive dance practice and delivery. This will be delivered through the use of a game or task demonstration before being discussed.
The training will take a fluid process that combines multiple ideas to create a method that can change and be moulded to the participants. As such, the workshop is more about teaching teachers how to make their work inclusive, rather than everyone delivering the same way. Price includes lunch and refreshments.

Ideal if:
You work directly with children, young people or adults in the dance sector and are new to or need fresh ideas to support working inclusively.

Behaviour Management & Youth Arts – by Lesley Wood

The Course:
Understanding challenging behaviour and the best ways to cope with it is essential to any youth arts project. This one-day course looks at how you can create a positive environment from the offset, and get the most out of your young people! Together we will provide support and address any issues within your own projects that you would like to discuss.

Ideal if:
You work directly with children and young people in the arts and cultural sectors to help understand behavioural issues, their causes and their preventions.

‘Mistressclass’: Recovering the body from the library – by┬áLiz Aggiss

The Workshop:
Laughing Knees Dance Company and Dance Manchester are delighted to offer the ‘Mistressclass’ by Liz Aggiss which will include; an expressionist warm up, a fast tasking, quick thinking, performance-making workshop and discussion. Referring to her research, process, and not wishing to dwell for too long on any one thing, this restless workshop will invite participants to; swiftly recover bodies from their libraries: dance the grotesque: reinvent expressionist works: brush up against Ausdruckstanz: write and deliver smart texts for the moving body. Expect to choreograph, move in a mysterious manner, perform to real and imagined audiences, talk, probably shout a bit, show off, unlock preconceptions and discuss.

Ideal if:
You are a dance/live art/performance art/theatrical types/artists and mature movers and those that enjoy thinking and moving outide the box.
